Packaged tortillas need the same core label elements as any packaged food in the US. These are the points small producers most often get wrong.

1. Serving size and servings per container

Declare the serving in a household measure, such as “2 tortillas (52g)”, based on FDA's reference amount for the category. Servings per container round to the nearest whole number; between 2 and 5 they use the nearest half serving with “about” (101.9(b)(8)).

2. Ingredients and allergens

List ingredients in descending order of weight (101.4). Flour tortillas contain wheat, one of the major food allergens FDA requires you to declare. If corn tortillas share a line with wheat, assess cross-contact carefully.

3. Net quantity

Declare it in both metric and US units on the principal display panel (101.105), such as “NET WT 12 OZ (340g)”.

4. English required, Spanish complete

If the package includes Spanish, all required information must appear in both languages (101.15(c)(2)). A bilingual Nutrition Facts panel is allowed (101.9(d)(14)), and LabelKit generates that format.
